A Harbor Springs original
Howse's has been the town's candy store since 1959, made in a downtown building that has stood since 1908. Family-run for generations — and every bag is still packed by hand.
Hand-made fudge, chocolates & caramels — poured fresh on the marble slab in our 1908 downtown shop.
Every batch is cooked in copper kettles and poured by hand onto cold marble tables — fudge, chocolates, caramels and brittle, worked and cut fresh in the same downtown shop three generations of the Howse family have run.
The marble slab isn't for show — it's how fudge sets to the right texture. We cook small batches, pour them out warm, and hand-work each one until it's ready to cut. It's slower than a machine, and that's the point: it's the same craft that's made Howse's the town's candy store for more than sixty years.
Our case changes with the season. Stop in to see what's on the marble today — or call and we'll tell you what's fresh.
Rich chocolate fudge layered with caramel and toasted pecans.
